Volkswagen Club Fest History
The first time the organization of an automobile exhibition aimed at fan cars was mentioned was at the General Assembly of The Club of Volkswagen Supporters in Bulgaria on October 17th 2009. The name of the event was chosen by the Club members. The runners-up were: Volkswagen Club Show and Volkswagen Fans Fest.
The first edition of Volkswagen Club Fest was held on March 27th
2010, the organizing committee consisted of more than 35 people. This was the first and a unique auto show with automobiles owned by Volkswagen fans
. This was also the first auto show organized by a fan club in Bulgaria. Its success amongst visitors and fans made its existence a tradition of development.
The event was held in Hall 4 of the Inter Expo Center Sofia.
In 2011 it was held for the second time, this time on an area twice as big and with twice as many cars: in halls 5 and 6 of the IEC (more than 3600 sq. meters) 77 vehicles were shown and the visitors were more than 7000 for the two days.
In 2012, the third edition of the Fest was organized. The main partner for the event was Porsche BG Ltd – official importer of Volkswagen for Bulgaria.
The visitors of Volkswagen Club Fest enjoyed three auto premieres – the VW Beetle, VW Up! and VW CC. There were also a variety of racecars, tuning cars, air cooled models, VAG models from other fan clubs, etc.
An additional accent to the 2012 edition was the Volkswagen Beetle photo exhibition of the VW Beetle history with unique archive photos provided by the Volkswagen Chronic department of Volkswagen AG. The exclusive pictures were shown for the first time to the Bulgarian audience. A part of this exhibit were photos of the earliest history of the legendary Beetle, archive footage of the creation of the first Volkswagen factory, the first ever documented copy of the company logo, as well as emblematic advertisements of the brand, made by the advertising agency DDB.
In 2013 our partnership with Porsche BG resulted in the Golf 7 premiere for Bulgaria. The visitors were also able to see the VW Golf history from make 1 to make 6, which were entirely original fan cars, a model history of VW Transporter, as well as the premieres for Bulgaria of Touareg "Edition X", Caddy Edition 30 and a dozen of other exclusive new models.
Like in previous Fest editions there were VW racecars, tuning cars, restored classic models, air cooled and models from other brands of the VAG concern.
The Fest in 2013 also brought a big surprise for our visitors. For the first time a visitor of the Fest was able to go home with the grand prize - a brand new Volkswagen Up!
The fifth jubilee Volkswagen Club Fest had international participation, exhibiting automobiles from eight countries: Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria, thus turning it into a major and most expected automotive event for the country and for South Europe.
As usual, the Club’s fan shop also offered various items for the fans.
Last but not least, there were Prospeed’s unique Audi S1 and Audi 90 IMSA GTO.
The sixt Volkswagen Club Fest presented the strongest international participation so far, as well as a number of cars that the public saw for the first time. Probably that’s why the venue featured the largest number of exhibitors and participants who presented their products and services to the fans.
To make a long story short – a paradise for the auto fans. From fans for fans.
